The KD Chair Runs for KunstDoel...

To help fill the financial deficit caused by a promised subsidy which was blocked by the Finance Inspectorate last year, the KunstDoel chair will run the 5K Ladies' Run in Antwerp on 25 April. She hopes to finish in fewer than 30 minutes. KunstDoel supporters are invited to sponsor this sweat-shedding effort by granting a fixed amount for every minute below 30 minutes.

For instance, finishing in 29:59 = 1 sponsor unit; 28:59 = 2 units; 27:59 = 3 units and so on. +30 minutes is also worth 1 unit, merely for the running effort.
Your stake multiplied by the number of sponsor units will be the overall sponsoring amount.

Sponsors may register by sending an email to kunstdoelinfo@scarlet.be mentioning your name and the amount you want to give. We will publish a chart on the website showing the progress of this sponsoring initiative. Please let us know in your email if you don't want your name published in this chart. The week after the race we will send you an email mentioning the running time and the total sponsoring amount due.

KunstDoel moves and makes things move…
Thanks in advance for your support,

Design Research Project Saint-Lucas Brussels/Ghent: "Reinventing the Polis" in Doel

Some 160 students of van Saint-Lucas' Architecture Department in Brussels and Ghent are currently working on a design research exercise in and about Doel. The students and their lecturers depart from the conviction that an inhabited village and the development of a maritime-industrial complex are not mutually exclusive. Each student will design a number of dwelling units starting from the public space or agora. The students will have to test their designs as to their feasibility and actual building potential. This means the design project will not have an utopian nature, but that it may eventually -- the powers that be willing -- be carried out in reality.
