8 August: Consecration of the Scheldt and Doel Festivities

On Sunday, 8 August the annual consecration of the River Scheldt and the 36th Doel festivities will take place in the village of Doel. Holy Mass will begin at 14 hrs and will be immediately followed by the boat consecration ceremony on the Scheldt. This year, the authorities of Beveren did not grant any subsidy for the organization of the festivities in Doel. The remaining inhabitants and sympathizers are organizing the event with their own means: a jumble sale and handycrafts market, music, and a poetry, photography and national heritage show in the chapel. |
